‘Ensure holistic training of pupils in school’
The Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Ofinso in the Ashanti Region has marked its Catholic Education Week with a call for the holistic training of pupils to enable them to fit into the system on completion of their studies.
The Headmistress of the school, Sister Steve Marriette Amponsah indicated that “educands are to be in the best shape to fit into any area of work they find themselves; they are to be what people look up for; they are to be models or pacesetters”.
She said there was the need for schools to ensure quality teaching and also impart good attitudes and morals in their students to enable them to fit into work and society on graduation.
She made the call at the launch of activities for the week, which was on the theme: “Catholic Education: Making the difference in the Educand”.
The school is an integrated preparatory and junior high school (JHS) for both Persons With Disability (PWDs) and non-PWDs and is located at Namong in the Offinso South municipality.
Activities
Activities marking the week included cultural display, choreography, drama and poetry.
During the cultural display, different dishes representing the various ethnic groups in Ghana were presented at a food exhibition.
There was traditional dance display by Akan, Kotokoli, Fante, Ewe, Nzema and Dagomba students.
Advice
In her closing remarks, Sister Amponsah called for action to resolve problems, instead of the practice where most Ghanaians resorted to talking and complaining about issues but failed to find solutions to them.
She advised the students to consider challenges they would be encountering in life as an opportunity to excel in their respective endeavours.
The headmistress asked the pupils not to relent in their efforts but study hard to broaden their horizon.
