Chapel, school block for Mount Olives Baptist Church
A multipurpose chapel and a school block built to promote evangelism and educational development have been dedicated at the Mount Olives Baptist Church at Ashale–Botwe in Accra.
In a sermon to grace the occasion, the Senior Pastor of the Legon Family of Baptist Churches, Rev. Samuel Otu Pimpong, urged Christians to prepare their hearts which was the temple of God and be ready to serve him in truth and deeds.
He advised them not to engage in any activity that would make their faith and belief in God become unsteady.
For his part, the Resident Pastor of the Mount Olives congregation, Rev. Tony Woode, said it was his vision to make the church a home for the weary, a place of solace for the distressed and a support for the discouraged.
In a highlight of the background of the projects, Rev. Woode said the Mount Olives Baptist Church, which began 20 years ago, started with only a handful of members after an open-air evangelism programme was held to promote the word of God in the vicinity.
He said the church sometime ago held its church services in rented quarters and uncompleted buildings because there were not enough funds. He indicated that through hard work and dedication to duty, members of the church and certain individuals contributed funds to put up the 600- capacity building. The church had also put up a school block to support education in the area.
