Anglican Guild donates to Osamkrom Prisons

The Guild of the Good Shepherd within the Anglican Church of Ghana has presented items to the Osamkrom Prison camp in the Central Region.

The donation, which formed part of the 8th biennial national conference and installation of sister Nelly Buaku as the 9th National Master Shepherd at Agona Swedru, included boxes of key soap, bags of rice, bags of gari, second hand clothing, gallons of palm oil toiletries.

Presenting the items, Sister Comfort Osei, the outgoing national master shepherd, said the items were in support of their basic needs.

She encouraged the inmates not to lose hope in life but rather take advantage of the various trades they were being trained in while in custody so as to integrate easily into society after their release.

She lauded the prison officers for their commitment towards the reformation of the prisoners.

Assistant superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Osei Bonsu, who received the items, thanked the Guild of the Good Shepherd for the kind gesture.

He noted that government subventions alone to the prisoners were not enough to cater for the needs of the prisons and called for continuous public support for prisons across the country.
