St Louis SHS inducts 7th headmistress

A past student of the St Louis Senior High School in the Ashanti Region, Mrs Ama Kyerewaa Benefo, has been inducted as the seventh headmistress of the school.

Mrs Benefo, who is the first past student to rise to that level, gave an assurance to help position the school as one of the best second-cycle institutions in the country.

At her induction service, she said she would make the school a world-class senior high school whose traditions and systems other schools could learn from.

Mrs Benefo added that since her appointment in June this year, she had received assistance from the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly to renovate the main school block, school administration block and re-grass the frontage of the administration block.

Again, under her supervision, the 93/95 year group had built an ultra-modern place of convenience for the school while the 2008 year group provided leisure benches to be used by visitors.

Through friends of the school, she said “we have procured costumes for the school cultural troupe, as well as 150 pieces of conference room chairs for the school assembly hall which is nearing completion”.

Vision

Already, Mrs Benefo said, the school had instituted pragmatic policies to actualise the goals of the founders.

They include a school conference for students to interact with the school administration, stronger science department, staff goal setting and review conference, an excellence award scheme to award deserving students, internet connectivity and a counselling centre.

“My supreme motivation in this endeavour is to give back to my alma mater and create a unique brand for our institution.

“The virtues espoused by the Catholic faith shall be paramount, the interest of the girl-child shall not be sacrificed, the broad aim of education in Ghana shall be pursued for a better Ghana,” Mrs Benefo declared.

Profile

Mrs Benefo was born at Konongo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She started her basic education at the Konongo Roman Catholic Primary School and proceeded to St Louis SHS for the GCE “O” and “A” levels certificates.

She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of Ghana, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast and a Master of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from the University of Education, Winneba.
