This year's Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) will be telecast live on television.
This is to let the public follow the proceedings of the exercise in order to clear the wrong perception some members of the public have about it.

A Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Stephen Adu, explained that over the years, some members of the public have accused the secretariat of manipulating the exercise.

He said carrying out the placement exercise live on television would be an opportunity for everybody to watch and follow the procedure to correct those wrong perceptions.

Explaining the delay in the placement exercise, Mr Adu said the secretariat was working hard to ensure that the exercise would be done early to give candidates enough time to prepare for school.

He added that since the placement exercise would be done once, the secretariat was waiting for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to complete its investigations into all those candidates whose results had been withheld for alleged examination malpractice.

Asked when all the results would be ready from WAEC, Mr Adu could not give a specific date but said it would be done as soon as possible. He added, “once WAEC submits the full results, the placement exercise will be done within the shortest possible time.”

He, however, said after the live placement exercise, the secretariat would attend to technical errors, such as male candidates being placed in an all female schools and persons with special needs being placed in schools where specific facilities for such candidates were not available.
