Check use of pidgin English among students
The headteacher of the Ho Bankoe E.P. Primary School, Mrs Angelica Attakey, has expressed concern about the widespread use of pidgin English among students.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Junior Graphic Fan Club at the school, she commended the introduction of the Junior Graphic Fan Club and spelling competitions in schools to help improve the reading and writing skills of students.
She expressed the hope that the use of the Junior Graphic by students would help stop the use of Pidgin English in schools and commended the Graphic Communications Group Limited for the publication of a children’s newspaper.
Mrs Attakey said, “this inauguration will mark a new and fruitful relationship between our school and the company”.

For his part, the Volta Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Tim Dzamboe, who inaugurated the club, also repeated the importance of reading adding ,“ a good number of pupils failed to make it in their final examinations due to their poor reading habits”.
The students were very excited when he announced that the school would be included in this year’s National Junior Graphic Spelling Competition.
The occasion was also used to swear-in the executive members of the club with Esther Dzramedo as President, Vanessa Tsidi as Vice President, Klenam Adevu as Secretary and Tsidi Celestine, Assistant Secretary.
The rest are Rashida Mohammed, Treasurer, Rebecca Tom, Organiser, Dickson Amewoyi, Assistant Organiser and Ms Joyceline Kudaya, the Patron.
