Bolgatanga SHS wins quiz
The Bolgatanga Senior High School (BIG BOSS) in the Upper East Region, has won the Brilliant Inter-School Quiz Competition on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The school scored 47 points to beat its closest contender, the Navrongo Senior High School, which placed second with 46 points. The Zamse Senior High/Technical School placed third with 36 points while the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School took the fourth position with 25 points.
For its award, the school took a cash prize of GH¢ 500 and NHIS branded T-shirts while the other schools, which participated in the competition, were presented with NHIS T-shirts.
With that feat, the school will represent the region in the Northern Zonal Competition to be held in the Brong Ahafo Region later this year. The school is expected to compete with other schools from the Northern, Upper West, Brong Ahafo, and Ashanti regions. The winner of the Northern zonal contest will later compete in a national contest.

The NHIS Brilliant Inter-Schools Competition started about three years ago to primarily help improve on information dissemination, education and communication on the NHIS.
Addressing participants of the competition in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional Director of the NHIS, Mr Sebastian Alagpulinsa, said his outfit intended to embark on intensive public awareness creation programmes within the next five years to “secure public ownership of the scheme”.
The NHIA, he noted, would also provide clients and other stakeholders with the requisite information about the scheme to empower them to enjoy their rights and live up to their responsibilities at all times.
