150 Mono desks for Adum Banso Catholic Primary
The Mpohor District Assembly in the Western Region has donated 150 mono desks at a cost of GH¢241,600 to the Adum Banso Catholic Primary School for the newly constructed six-unit classroom block.
The donation coincided with the ‘My First Day at School,’ programme to welcome entrants to the kindergarten and primary school and was aimed at promoting teaching and learning among the pupils who hitherto were using broken furniture for their studies.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Albert Abrefo Awotwe, who made the presentation, explained that the gesture was in line with the government’s objective of providing adequate infrastructure and materials to educational institutions, especially at the basic level.
He appealed to the school authorities and the community members to take very good care of the furniture so that they would last long for other children to benefit from it in future.
The Mpohor District Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Samuel Nyarko, also urged parents to show keen interest in the education of their children by providing them with all the necessary items they need at school so that they would become qualified scholars.
In a related development, the district assembly provided GH¢9,571.00 to the Mpohor District Education Directorate towards the observance of the ‘My First Day at School’ programme, which was organised for the benefit of about 1,415 pupils from 15 selected schools in the district.
The money was used to purchase items such as assorted biscuits, fruit drinks, toffees and other pastries as well as pencils and erasers for distribution to the children.
