France relaxes covid travel conditions for travelers from Ghana
France has relaxed travel conditions for travelers from Ghana to France especially for fully vaccinated travelers, after it upgraded the West African country’s COVID-19 status to green zone.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted the Embassy of France in Accra to have announced the upgrade, and also issued new travel requirements that eliminate mandatory tests and isolation upon arrival in metropolitan France.
It listed conditions under which one may be considered fully vaccinated to include receiving:
One dose of Janssen vaccine + 28 days, but no later than 9 months.
Two doses of E.U. approved vaccines (Pfizer/Comirnaty, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Vaxzervria/Covishield) + 7 days, but no later than 9 months after the last dose.
Two doses of other vaccines + 1 dose of E.U. approved vaccines + 7 days, but no later than 9 months after the last dose.
If the last dose is older than 9 months, 1 dose of booster of mRNA vaccine (Pfizer/Comirnaty, Moderna).
New travel requirements:
• For fully vaccinated travelers: a negative test prior to departure is no longer required. They must present a proof of vaccination.
• For unvaccinated travelers, one of the following options:
- a negative PCR test done less than 72 hours prior to departure
- a negative antigen test done less than 48 hours prior to departure
- a COVID-19 recovery certificate (Positive result of a PCR or antigen test carried out more than 11 days and less than 6 months prior. This certificate is only valid for a period of 6 months from the date of the test).
Children under 12 years are exempt from all formalities.
No further measures (tests, isolation) are imposed upon arrival in metropolitan France.
