Ghanaian international, Rashid Sumaila, has signed a one-year loan deal with Serbian giants, Red Star Belgrade, from Qadsia SC

The 25-year-old defender passed his medical on Wednesday before putting pen to paper on the season-long deal which comes with an option to join the Serbian side permanently.

“I am very happy to come to Red Star. I am here to help the team to achieve their goals, as well as the goals that the club wants.

“Red Star is a good club that will help me to make the toy progress. I know that the club has a great history, won the Champions League, and I know about last year’s good performance in the Europa League," Sumaila told the club's website after his signing.

“By nature, I am a winner, I do not like to lose, and therefore I want to see the best results for Zvezda,” Sumaila said after signing his deal.

He has been on the books of Kuwaiti side Al Qadisiya over the past few years but spent the past season on loan at Al Garafa in Qatar.

Rashid Sumaila, who also previously played for Asante Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs, will have the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League with his new club.
