Ghana’s number two seed Benjamin Fumi defeated Johnson Acquah in a three-set epic battle to win the 2020 Accra Open Championship held at the tennis arena of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Fumi won the match 6-7(5), 7-6(4), 6-0 in four hours 20 minutes.
The 24-year-old tennis star lost the first set but came back stronger in the second set to break his opponent’s first service game and took the lead.
Both players took their serves to a tie-break, but Fumi stamped his dominance by firing down four aces to push the game to final set.

In a post-match interview Fumi said, “I almost lost that match because Johnson was dominating from the beginning so he won the first set and was even about to win the second set but I had to change my style to force the game to the final set.”
“I can describe this win as one of the biggest in my career because I didn't expect to be in this position at all. I'm very happy,” he added.
Each of the players received cash and assorted products from the sponsors as rewards.
