Tennis: Ben Fumi in FNT semis after dispatching Clement Alisi

Ghana’s number one seed Benjamin Fumi has qualified for the semi-finals of the Friday Night Tennis (FNT) Challenge after defeating Clement Alisi in a two straight sets at the Ghana Tennis Club, Adabraka. Fumi won the match 6-4, 6-0 in an hour and 10 minutes.

Alisi started strongly racing through the opening set with some powerful serves but Fumi stepped up his game and served out the first set 6-4.

Fumi, former student of the Koforidua Technical University, maintained the momentum and won the second set 6-0.

In a post event interview, Fumi said: "I’m happy to advance to the semi-finals. In fact, this is my first time playing under floodlights at Ghana Tennis Club. A big thank you to the sponsors for such an initiative”.

In the social event, Army Officer’s tennis sensation Linda Agyei outplayed Shilla Duewer from Tesano Tennis Club to win 6-3,6-2.

“I feel so excited. Initially, I was a little nervous when we began the game but gradually I picked up and won. Yesterday was my birthday and I promised myself to beat Duewer to crown my birthday in a grand style," Linda Agyei in an interview.
