The President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association(GTTA), Mawuko Afadzinu says table tennis is on the ascendency and will witness a massive growth this year.

He hinted that plans are afoot for a league system to be staged in all regions of the country and charged  stakeholders to sustain the ping-pong revolution momentum to make the sport a national past time.

“We must sustain the rate of growth and development of the sport, we must be committed and with all hands on deck, table tennis will be a major avenue for youth employment and generation of great revenue for the state,” he told the GraphicSportsOnline on the sidelines of a media session and open board clinic held at the fantasy Dome of the La Trade Fair in Accra this afternoon.

The venue, dubbed the Accra Table Tennis Centre, will host  the annual Chairman’s Cup comprising the nation’s best ping-pong players this Saturday.

The centre has 32 state-of-the-art tables, 64 rackets and electronic score boards.
Mr Afadzinu noted that all was set for the competition on Saturday and charged ping-pong lovers to come witness a spectacle.
