The national wheelchair tennis team has begun a two-week residential camping for two impending International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments namely the 2020 Nairobi Open and 2020 PNB Paribas World Cup Team Africa Qualifiers which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The team is made up of Abdul Razak Nuhu, Daniel Laryea, Bridget Nartey and Stacy Konadu Mensah who have been training under the guidance of Coach Philip Plange and they are expected to depart Accra for Kenya on Saturday.
According to the Coordinator of the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis, Henry Larbi, the residential campaign has enabled the players to prepare adequately for the Nairobi competition.
Mr Larbi expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Association for funding the two-week training programme.
Other countries expected to participate in the five-day competition are the hosts Kenya, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria and Cameroon.
The entry fees and air tickets of team Ghana for the Nairobi competition are fully funded by the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Fund.
Meanwhile, the team's morale was boosted last Friday after they received ITF UNIQLO wheelchair tennis kits from the Coordinator of Ghana Wheelchair Tennis.
