South Africa Freedom Day Golf slated for April 27

South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Lulama Xingwana will chair the event

The annual South African Freedom Day Golf Tournament is slated for April 27 at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono.

 The Freedom Day is an annual celebration of South Africa’s first non-racial democratic elections of 1994. Peace, unity, preservation and the restoration of human dignity have been the hallmark of the celebrations which is observed on April 27 each year.

The Freedom Day Golf Tournament, an initiated of the Global Media Alliance (GMA), is aimed at bringing together competing golfers both from the Ghanaian and South African communities to network as well as display their love for the game.

Special Guest of Honour for the event is the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Lulama Xingwana.

Speaking on the tournament, the Chief Executive Officer of the GMA, Ernest Boateng, stated that the event will offer an opportunity for all South African businesses, diplomatic corps, corporate Ghana and individuals to network while playing golf.

“Freedom Day commemorates the beginning of democracy in South Africa. It is a remarkable day in the history of South Africa and Africa for that matter, bringing to mind stalwarts like Nelson Mandela. The golf tournament therefore serves as a good platform to engage each other and to share ideas on what the future holds for the South African Business Community in Ghana,” Mr Boateng said.

“Last year, we had hundreds of golfers together with their families attending the event and we anticipate to host more this year,” he added.

This year’s event is proudly headlined by telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana and supported by Bel Aqua and South African High.
