Salt and Pepper win India Community Cricket tourney

Cricket Club Salt and Peppers overcame a late charge from Balaji Group of Companies(BGC)  to beat them at the last over to win the India community cricket tournament at the Achimota Cricket Oval a fortnight ago.

The eight-team tournament, which began on November 24,  saw thrilling encounters and exciting batting and bowling among the India Community in the country.

Ghana-based Indian cricket enthusiast, Akoliya Patel, who is the brain behind the competition, told the Daily Graphic that the event was to engender a sense of community and togetherness among the Indian community in Ghana.

“We also want to have fun, socialise and network among ourselves while creating awareness of the sport and supporting the Ghana Cricket Association to grow and develop the game,” he stated.

He stressed that the Indian community in Ghana is  ready to contribute its quota to support cricket in Ghana. “ This time Karizma Company in Ghana is sponsoring all the trophies and awards , We than them and we count Individual contribution that helped maked this tournament a success,”Mr Patel noted.

And Ghana cricket to become a giant after  football. Another competition will be staged together in early January to promote the sport in the country.

Mr Patel appealed to Corporate entities to support the game Cricket at Earliest to gate Big Brands and the competition to sustain the sport in the country.
