Police maintain lead in volleyball league

The Police volleyball team took a commanding lead on the summit of the league log by opening an 11 points gap after beating the Fire Service team 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend.

Prior to the game, it was expected to be keenly contested between the two rivals until it became a one-sided affair for the Police team who were no match for the Fire Service side.

Police now have bagged 54 points this season, the Army team follows with 43 points, while this defeat has pushed Fire Service to occupy the 10th position with 20 points.

As usual, the excitement on the court was limitless for the fans of the Police team who watched their side run riot by demolishing one of their fiercest rivals.

The fun was not only limited to the Accra Sports Stadium as the Dobro Court also showed glimpses of talents when the Blue Skies team welcomed El-Wak Wings in a thrilling clash that left the host bruised on a 1-3 loss.

The Town Council Line volleyball court also came under intense pressure to save the face of the host team who had to succumb to the dictates of the Airforce volleyball team in a 3-1 win.

Immigration volleyball club fought hard to win convincingly over the Model volleyball club at the Lebanon Club house in all the three sets. By the victory, Immigration volleyball club have moved a step up on the league ladder coming from the 6th position to the 5th position.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ events also produced some outstanding performances as the police female volleyball team continued their dominance in the ladies league with 45 points on the league log after defeating the Fire Service ladies in all the three sets.

The Immigration female volleyball team also beat the Model female volleyball club by three straight sets, while the Fire Service female team got a win over the La Pioneers ladies volleyball club in all the three sets of the game at the Lebanon House.
