Minigolf: Forbes Club take lead in 2019 Caesars Court Clubs League

Forbes Club top the league table after Matchday 1

The 3rd Caesars Court Minigolf League successfully teed off at the Caesars Court Minigolf course at Ridge in Accra last Sunday with six leading minigolf clubs vying for honours.

Organised by the Ghana Minigolf Federation (GMF) and sponsored by Cesars Court Ridge, the five-week competition has Forbes, Black Putters, Kama, Power, Nutterz Putterz and Golden Putters Minigolf Clubs competing for the trophy at stake when the league climaxes on Sunday, December 15.

Defending champions Forbes Club got their title defence on course when they went on top of the league table with 14 points and a total score of 505.

Golden Putterz followed in second position with 13 points and a total score of 512 score, while Nutterz Putterz finished in third place, also on 13 points, with a total score of 514.

Kama, Black Putters and Power Minigolf Clubs followed in fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively with 12, 10 and 9 points.

Other notable performances on the opening week came in the Best Stroke Play as Ruben Minko of Kama Club recorded the lowest score of 75 points for his two games, while Nutterz Putterz duo of Enock Nyarko and Hicham Chihadeh logged the best combined score of 159 points, trailed closely by Forbes duo of Bright Frimpong and Philip Selassie with 162 points.

Also, Emelda Bempong of Black Putterz putted seven holes in one in her first game, setting a GMF Minigolf national and African record.

The world-class Caesars Minigolf course will host 100 league matches

According to the GMF, the five-week league is expected to have a total of over 100 matches by end of the competition on December 15 with the champion club crowned along with outstanding individual players.

The Caesars Court Clubs League comes on the heels of the participation by Team Ghana at the recent 2019 World Minigolf Championships in China, where Africa’s best Minigolfer, Enock Nyarko, finished in an impressive 101st position in a field of 230 players from 26 countries.

The league continues on Sunday at Caesars Court Ridge Minigolf course with competitive fixtures teeing off at 3 pm.
