The technical team and players of Exchequers Hockey team- the pride of Bank of Ghana- have donated a number of food items, beverages and toiletries to inmates of African Street Kids Orphanage (ASKOF) at Banana Inn at Mamprobi in Accra.
The items which included rice, oil, milk, milo, tin tomatoes, drinks, water, washing powder and toilet rolls were estimated at GH¢1000.00
The General Secretary of Exchequers, Alex Asante, who made the presentation on behalf of the club, said as a team they had the desire of helping the needy in diverse ways
“We want to give back to society and help those who are less privileged. This will let them know that we care about them,” he noted.
Stressing, he said: “Sharing is a form of blessing, hence the need to give to the needy to give them a sense of hope and belonging.”
He gave an assurance of their commitment to have fruitful interactions with the inmates regularly as a way of integrating them into society.
The Supervisor of ASKOF, Rev. Mrs Theresa Kotey, who received the donation on behalf of the inmates, commended Exchequers for their support.
She said the inmates depended on the kind gesture of society to survive and pleaded with institutions, organisations and individuals to support them regularly.
