Legendary boxing referee and judge Ataa Eddie Pappoe has been appointed by the World Boxing Council (WBC) as one of the 25 outside boxing judges for Saturday’s heavyweight duel involving Tyson Fury and holder Deontay Wilder.
A letter written to the veteran boxing official by the WBC, and sighted by the Graphic Sports Online, indicated that Mr Eddie-Pappoe had been recognised as one of the senior ring officials selected around the globe to monitor this great fight.
He told the network that he was elated that he had be chosen to be part of this important duel.
“This is an honour done me and Ghana and I will proudly do my utmost best to be a fair and an impartial judge in this all important slugfest,” he told this paper.
He expressed gratitude to the WBC and pledged to abide by the rules and regulations governing the duty of an outside ring official.
Meanwhile, three judges and a referee have been selected to officiate the bout. Renowned referee Kenny Bayless will anchor the night.
