This year’s Seven Great Princes Academy sports festival will only comprise indoor sporting activities and will be staged at the Dansoman branch of the school for the first time.

The sports-oriented and academic excellence institution will stage the three-day competition which involves over 200 students from February 12 to 14.

Seven Great uses the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Accra for its sporting activities. The facility is currently under reconstruction.

Athletes will compete in seven sporting disciplines for trophies, honours and scholarships. The disciplines are table tennis, basketball, scrabble, sack race, fill-in-the bottle, spoon and lime and musical chairs.

The lower and upper primary department of the school, which has two branches namely the Lartebiokorshie and Dansoman, will compete for honours in the fill-in-the bottle, spoon and lime race, musical chairs and sack race on February 12.

And on February 13 to 14 the junior high school (JHS) and senior high school (SHS) departments will compete among themselves in basketball, table tennis and scrabble.

Organisers believe the competition will identify talents for the national cause, and create awareness of sports as a tool for youth development and national cohesion.

Former students Asamoah Gyan of Black Stars, Eric Amoah, a former national table tennis star, and Charles Nii Armah Mensah also known as Shatta Wale are expected to patronise the event.
