How the Super Falcons lined-up against Burkina Faso

The Super Falcons of Nigeria began their quest for WAFU glory with a five star performance as they annihilated Burkina Faso 5-1 at the Parc de Sports on Thursday.

Attacker, Uchenna Grace Kanu scored a hat-trick while Salimatu Simpore and Amarachi Okoronkwo added one each to seal the victory.

Uchenna opened the floodgates just nine minutes into the game before teammate Nwabuoku Evelyn grabbed the second from 12-yards in the 16th minute.

Nigeria increased their lead to 3-0 in the 20th minute through a penalty converted by Amarachi Grace Okoronkwo after Burkina Faso’s Salimata Simpore committed a foul in the box and was shown a straight red card.

From recess, free-scoring striker Uchenna Grace Kanu added a brace to bring the tally to five for the Nigerians at the match watched by a sizable crowd.

Burkina Faso got a consolation goal through Charlotte Milligo on the 77th minute.

Uchenna Grace Kanu was adjudged the Woman of the Match for being the first player to bag a hat-trick in the competition.

The Super Falcons will play their next match against their Nigerien counterparts on Saturday at the Stade du Parc des Sports in Abidjan.
