The U-16 side of the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) on Thursday left Accra for Salzburg, Austria to participate in the 2019 Next Generation Tournament.
WAFA, defending champions, have been drawn in Group C for the 12-team tournament.
The Ghanaians will begin their title defence against Spanish side Valencia CF on Thursday, August 8 before meeting New York Red Bulls in their second fixture on the same day.
This will be their fifth appearance at the event which is scheduled to end on Saturday, August 10.
WAFA on Saturday, August 18, 2018, emerged champions of the 2018 Next Generation tournament after beating Red Bull Brasil 2-0 in Salzburg, Austria.
WAFA’s two-goal heroes on the day were Joshua Doke and Daniel Owusu.
While WAFA qualified to the final of the competition after beating Portuguese side SL Benfica 4-1 on penalties in the semi-final, Red Bull Brasil also defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 to pick a slot to the finals.
