Accra Hearts of Oak have denied interest in reuniting with their former Japanese trainer, Kenichi Yatsuhashi although the coach had made some overtures towards the club.
Kenichi parted ways with his current club, Inter Allies yesterday and sources close to the Rainbow club say the diminutive Japanese coach fancy a return to Hearts barely three seasons after breaking his relationship with Hearts.
“He has visited the Hearts secretariat a number of times talking to people but I don’t think Hearts is interested in signing him considering the grounds on which his contract was terminated” the source indicated to Daily Graphic yesterday.
According to the source, Hearts terminated Kenichi’s contract on grounds of insubordination and disclosed that their reliable information they gathered suggested that the 49-year-old coach was fired at his two previous appointments on the same grounds.
“Due to this it would be unwise for us to go and pick him again knowing very well that he has a bad character. And in case we signed him that mean we must be ready to deal with any behavior he puts up” our source noted.
Kenichi’s dismissal at clubs started with Accra Hearts of Oak where he was fired after just and season, he was appointed by Nigerian side, Efeanyi Uba but lasted less than a season before his fairytale with the Tema-based club also ended half-way through the season.
Meanwhile Kenichi confirmed to Daily Graphic yesterday that he was returning to his home country and had no interest in taking up coaching duties in Ghana and described his link to Hearts of Oak as fabrications.
