Chelsea could be the target of another Real Madrid raid, with the Spanish giants keen on landing N'Golo Kante in a swap deal involving James Rodriguez.
Madrid have already signed Eden Hazard from Stamford Bridge in the summer in a deal worth £150million, now they are keen on making an £86m swoop for Kante which would also involve Rodriguez heading in the opposite direction.
Rodriguez had become a forgotten man at Madrid following two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich but he has seen his stock rise this term having found a way back into Zinedine Zidane's first-team plans.
According to El Desmarque, Chelsea are showing fresh interest in the Colombian having previously courted the idea of signing him before he went to Bayern Munich.
The website also claims that Kante is one of Zidane's 'dream' signings as an ideal fit to cover the defensive side of Madrid's midfield.
Madrid had tried to offload Rodriguez in the summer but despite his resurgence are still willing to listen to offers for the 28-year-old.
Although Chelsea are keen, it is thought that rival clubs are also tracking Rodriguez.
However any potential deal with Chelsea would likely have to go through next summer as the Blues are still under a transfer embargo that will cover the January transfer window.
Chelsea though are still waiting to hear their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to overturn the transfer ban.
They were handed a two-window ban by FIFA in the summer meaning they cannot register any new players who are above the age of 16, after breaking regulations over the signing of youth players.
