Invisible Stars win 2019 Novelty Blind Gala

 Invisible Stars - an Eastern Region-based blind football team- has won the 2019 edition of the Novelty blind football gala competition after defeating their Volta Regional counterpart, Great Olympics, 1-0 last Saturday.


The one-day gala competition, played at the Accra Sports Stadium tennis court, saw Meshack Agborzo score the match winner in the 18th minute of the second half to win the bragging rights for Invisible Stars in a thrilling encounter which kept the fans to their feet throughout the match.

 
Invisible Stars were crowned winners on merit because on their way to the final, they defeated Mysterious Brothers FC 5-4  on penalties after settling for a goalless draw in the all -play- all encounter which featured three teams.


Their midfielder, Wisdom Brokor, won the Best Player award, with striker Meshack Agborzor winning the goal king award after scoring three goals in two matches.


Among the personalities who witnessed the thrilling encounter were Lady Bodyseer Boakye who sponsored the tournament and Patrick Johnson and Shaaban Mohammed who are members of the organisers.


Also present was the Deputy Director of the National Sports Authority, Mr Wilson Abedu Wilson, who gave an assurance that the authority would support them in diverse way to motivate them to develop their potential in sports.


The 2019 Blind Football league was supported by JICA, Chrissa Global Foundation, the National Sports Authority, the National Paralympic Committee and Magbega Multimedia.
