Egypt head coach Hossam El-Badry believes a combination of things, including Mohamed Sala's absence in their first two group matches affected their 2021 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers .

Egypt has only recorded two points in their first two games after being held at home by Harambee Stars and then managing another draw against Comoros on Match Day Two.

As quoted by Kingfut, El-Badry said his team suffered due to the absence of key players like Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, a short time in preparations for the tie and the suspension of the Egyptian league for 40 days.

“We suffered from some issues and we are going through an interim phase, in addition to the absence of some vital players.

“ Obviously missing some players and Mohamed Salah affects us. We had a short time before the start of qualifiers and had only one session with all the players.

“The league suspension for 40 days hurt us as some players lost their form and momentum. Yes I am not satisfied with the two draws, but I promise you to qualify to 2021 AFCON,” the coach said after their game against Comoros in Moroni.

After two games, Comoros lead the group on four points, Kenya and Egypt are on two points with Togo on one.
