Former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion, Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe, is billed to make his much anticipated ring return on March 19 against Rey Perez at the Showboat Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Tagoe, who relocated to the United States in search of a world title shot, would headline a DiBella Entertainment show against an American fighter in Perez.
Dubbed the Broadway Boxing Night, the Ghanaian is looking forward to making a successful return in order to boost his chances of landing a world title shot by close of the year.
The bout would offer Tagoe the opportunity to make his second appearance in the US and outside Ghana in a 10-round lightweight contest.
The Ghanaian boxer is rated second in the lightweight division by the WBO and is in line to challenge for the world title which is being held by the dangerous Ukrainian pugilist Vasyl Lomachenko.
Tagoe has continuously called out Lomachenko for a showdown which he could land should he maintain his winning streak and ratings.
However, the Lomachenko-Tagoe showdown could fail to take place especially when the Ukrainian prefers a move back to the super featherweight division should he beat IBF titleholder Teofimo Lopez in their scheduled unification bout in July.
This could see Lomachenko vacate the belt to allow the Ghanaian a chance at a vacant title.
