Ghana’s lightweight contender, George "Red Tiger" Ashie is expected to face British-born former European champion, Stephen Ormond in Glasgow, Scotland, in a night of boxing with MTK Global card at the Glasgow Emirates Arena.
According to organisers, MTK Global, who recently signed the Ghanaian to their staples, the fight is expected to take place on August 24 to be televised by renowned Box Nation.
The fight against Ormond (25-5-0, 13 KOs) will be a test for Ashie (28-4-1, 20 KOs) to prove himself as one of the best lightweight fighters in the world having seen his career take a dip since losing to Emmanuel Tagoe.
But Ashie came back from that defeat stronger by winning five consecutive fights with the recent earning him an Interim WBO Africa lightweight title with a majority decision victory over Michael Mokoena.
Organisers of the fight confirmed the bout on Instagram and Ashie will be departing Accra to the United Kingdom soon.
Ormond, 35, has won and lost twice in his last four bouts with the immediate past bout being against Nelson Altamirano which he won via unanimous decision.
