Rockstone’s Office to host another exhibition
Following its recent successful maiden exhibition aimed at making art more accessible to a mainstream audience, the management of Rockstone’s Office in Accra, in partnership with Deborah Ahenkorah’s Fifty Four Faces outfit, will host another exhibition at the Django Bar on September 9 and September 10.
This time around, the focus will be on the works of a multi-disciplinary arts collective called Creative House.
Founded three years ago by artist and architect Kojo Esene, Creative House comprises a core partnership of five young Ghanaian university graduates with strong passion for the arts.
In the collective alongside Kojo Esene are Edward Nii Adu Armah, Edem Afful, Nana Esi Bruce Quagraine and Owen Larmie. They will present works in fashion, architecture, music, painting, sculpture and photography at the exhibition.

Esene said the partnership came about during his student days at Linton University in Malaysia. Being into music, fashion, painting, sculpture and other areas of art, he brainstormed with lots of people in a search for folks who shared his enthusiasm and commitment.
He managed to put together a core group but it was not able to function as a unit because members were in different places. Esene therefore sees the upcoming exhibition as a sort of launch for the collective.
“It is often hard for good artists to be recognised. They have to be consistent for a long time before people start to notice them. What we have done is a strategy to beat that system and project what we do,” said Esene.
