Prampram Hockey Gala set for Saturday
One of Ghana’s beverage companies, T. T. Brothers, is the headline sponsor of the maiden Prampram Homowo Hockey Gala at the Anglican Park on Saturday at Prampram to commemorate the one year celebration of the passing of former President, John Evans Atta Mills.
Details of the sponsorship package is still under wraps but sources say it includes supply of different brands of drinks from T. T. Brothers as well as aspect of the organisational cost.
Former First Lady, Ernestina Naadu Mills, who hails from Prampram will be the special guest of honour as five of the seniors teams from the Greater Accra Hockey League join others across the country to honour the late President.
Mrs Mills would be joined by the MP for the area, E. T. Mensah, and other key players, including chiefs from the traditional area, to honour one of their own.
The event is being put together a prominent citizen of the area, Lengi Chawe-Nartey, under the patronage of the Greater Accra Hockey Association to celebrate one of Ghana’s finest hockey players, the late Prof Mills.
The one-day gala is expected to bring together some of his colleagues in the veterans team and players of the current generation to celebrate the man who gave Ghana her only hockey stadium in 2009.
The teams are expected to converge at the Sea Lane Hotel on Friday evening for pre-gala discussions and later on Saturday join Dr Nii Noi Ashong, a former Minister of State in President John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration, for a special Homowo treat at Kpone.
The clubs expected to compete in the gala include Mulstix, Veterans, Citizens International, SAPHOLDA and NDK Financiers.
