Ohemaa: I’m wrong meat for Opambour
AWARD-winning radio presenter, Harey Adjoa Yeboa Asuama, known in showbiz circles as Ohemaa Woyeje, has politely declined an ‘invitation’ for a potential media war with flamboyant preacher and televangelist, Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Opambour Yiadom, aka Prophet One.
The hostess of Adom FM’s mid-morning show ‘Work and Happiness’, told Showbiz on Tuesday she would not enter the gutter and trade insults with any public figure, not least .
Ohemaa Woyeje seemed to have incurred the wrath of the founder and leader of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, following claims a guest on her show made that he belonged to the same secret sect as Prophet One alongside politicians, fetish priests and some men of God.
Noted for his miracle-themed church services on TV, Prophet One went to town on New Mercury FM -- a Kumasi-based radio station owned by the preacher -- as he took his pound of flesh.
Obviously incensed by the allegations that linked him with the secret sect, Opambuor and some of his church lieutenants descended heavily on Ohema Woyeje, threatening to invoke curses on the presenter for allowing her platform to be used to denigrate his faith and tarnish his hard-earned reputation.
However, do not anticipate any counter-punch by Ohemaa Woyeje, in a similar manner which saw TV and radio personality, Afia Schwarzenegger, descended into the gutter and traded insults with Opambuor’s ‘spiritual rival’, Bishop Daniel Obinim.
Ohemaa Woyeje told Showbiz that the preacher misdirected his anger and she would not dignify his tirade with a response.
“I am a wrong meat for Opambuor because I am not ready to go on air to trade insults like it has been happening in some circles lately. I’m just not that type because I think it’s not a healthy habit.”
She explained that the programme on that day was not targeted at Opambuor or anybody in particular who was linked to the so-called secret society.
“I hosted a young man on my show who claimed to have been an occultist but has repented. He came in to narrate how he got into it, what he did and how he got out.
“He told me how along the line he went mad and was taken to various preachers, including Opambuor, but they couldn’t heal him because they were using the same occultic spirit he belonged to.
“Opambour was not the only preacher mentioned. Obinim was also mentioned, so I don’t know why Opambour is mad at me. The guy just used my platform to talk about his deliverance”, she said.
Voted the 2014 Best Female Radio DJ of the Year and nominated Radio Mid-Morning Show host of the Year 2015, Ohemaa Woyeje said she believes such public figures are just attention seekers who instigate needless fights in order to court public affection.
“‘I think some of these people want to be in the news and be heard, therefore they create such unnecessary things. It’s not healthy. If you don’t mind the person, the issue dies out”, she added.
