Miss Tourism chooses four from Volta
The reigning Club-Miss Tourism Ghana, Ms Esinam Awunyo, last Saturday joined judges at the Saint Theresa’s Teacher Training College in Hohoe to help scout for her successor.
About 53 hopefuls underwent a day of rigorous interviews with judges testing their knowledge of traditional Ghanaian dances, dressing, and other local customs.
In the end, Mary-Grace Ewoenam Afua Nartey, Precious Akosua Tengey, Bernice Akorfa Tettey and Faustina Yawa Aho, emerged as the four to move on to the final interview process in Accra in July.
The ultimate winner will represent Ghana at home and abroad, promoting the nation's many tourist destinations.
In keeping with the Miss Tourism Organisation's commitment to highlighting Ghana's tourist treasures, Ms Awunyo and her entourage paid a courtesy call on the chief and elders of the Hohoe Traditional Area.
They were warmly received and as custom demanded, they officially sought permission to hold the auditions.
Hopefuls in the Northern region will be interviewed on July 6, at the Discovery Hotel in Tamale.
The Miss Tourism Ghana team was sponsored by Metropolitan Insurance Company, Darling Hair, Lele Foods and DaViva.
