With his mother and grandmother by his side on stage, Ntakara proudly raised the dummy cheque for the GH¢100,000 he won to help him push on with his music career. He beat K Bee, Kofi Korea and Cano Z to win the prize.
“Any of them could have won because they all worked very hard,” said Judge Zapp Mallet after the show.
“The voting trend before the final event seemed like Cano Z was on top but I believe Koo Ntakara stepped up his strategy to get votes. No contestant in this type of show should play down the role of votes.”
Mallet’s view was confirmed in the end when the Most Interactive Fan award went to a voter from Koforidua.
It was a well-attended affair with emcees Bola Ray and Nana Aba Anamoah in charge.
Each contestant performed three songs and tried to do better at each turn. There was no clear-cut leader at any point. They all seemed to have done their homework well.
It begun to emerge by the time they did their third songs, however, that K Bee was not pulling the audience along like the other three. It didn’t surprise many that he won the fourth place.
Kofi Korea clinched the third position and Cano Z got the GH¢50,000 as the second place winner.
Koo Ntakara completed the Kwabeng Anglican Senior High School in the Eastern Region two years ago. An underground engineer called Mr Wings spotted his talent and recorded his first demo.
“He is definitely talented but talent alone is not enough in this game,” Zapp Mallet commented.
“His handlers must work hard at creating a solid image for him. Let’s hope he turns out to be the big star we all expect,” Mallet commented.
The MTN Hit-Maker II final show was a very entertaining package. Also there to thrill patrons were new dancehall act AK Songstress, Miriam, Ohemaa Mercy, Guru, Naterial and Iyanya from Nigeria.
