I didn't steal in London– Emelia Brobbey

Since the news broke that actress Emelia Brobbey had shoplifted a bracelet in London while on vacation, many people have doubts about the story.

Since her return to Accra last week, information from the horse’s own mouth suggest that the story is not exactly how it had been circulating.

According to Emelia, she went shopping at Pearsons  in London early this month and after she had purchased clothing stuff, little did she know that a bracelet she had tried on her hand  had accidentally fallen  into the pram she was wheeling her one month-old baby in.

She explained that, after paying for her goods and was just about leaving, an alarm beeped in the pram signifying she had on her items that had not been paid for.

The beep prompted the security guards around who started questioning her. Emelia, said she was surprised to find that what triggered the beep was a  bracelet that had accidentally dropped in her pram. She quickly paid for it when the shop attendant asked if she wanted to keep the bracelet.

Another security guard asked for her address and a couple of days later the Police came to her house to ask her to explain what went on at the shop as if she had stolen something. “I was so surprised to have heard that I have stolen a bracelet in London worth 10 pounds when I had shopped more than 300 pounds in the same shop”, she said.

In her radio interview since her return Emelia has expressed the view  that, it may be a close friend who wants to tarnish her image. ”I rest my case here but I know the truth will one day come that I am not a thief as some think.”
