Flowking Stone, others light up Made In Ghana-UK bash

It was a night of great contemporary Ghanaian music when Flowking Stone, Jupitar, Article Wan, Frank Nero and several others took to the stage at the maiden edition of the Made In Ghana-UK Festival on October 28 at the East Winter Garden, Canary Wharf in London.

Different variations of delightful  sounds from Ghana filled the cool night air as the acts were competently backed by the Patchbay band.  DJ Kobby and DJ Special D were also in the house with a wide selection of Ghanaian music throughout the night.

 The Made in Ghana-UK Festival was organised by Made in Ghana Consulting Ltd, Pan African Arts Society (PAAS), Base Empire, Showbiz Africa, Laboro GH, EIB Network, with  support from UK-based event outfits Hunter Production, Akwaaba UK, DJ Skinny and Orenzo Entertainment.

 It was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (ECTIB); Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and Ghana High Commission, UK.

 Fashion was another big item at the programme. That section was  produced and managed by UK-based Ghanaian designer, Tetteh Plahar. Other Ghanaian designers on the bill included Joyce Kavanagh of JTAphrique, Kwame Koranteng, Doudou of London, Abrantee The Gentleman and  Cut Out by BB.

 The event was hosted by MC Abigail DK, who is also the Communications Director of the Made In Ghana-UK Festival.

 “We are happy the festival  injected something fresh and thrilling to the already existing Ghana-themed big events in the UK such as Ghana Party In the Park, Ghana Music Awards UK and Miss Ghana UK,” said Mr Verus Nartey, CEO of Made In Ghana Consulting Ltd. 

 With the appreciable success of the maiden edition, Mr Augustine Mark of Showbiz Africa which was part of the organizational team, indicated that preparation had already started toward next year’s which would hopefully be bigger than what just happened. Some of the components earmarked for this year’s festival such as durbar of chiefs and a trade show had to be shelved due to some challenges related to travel arrangements. 

To Mr Augustine Mark, the Made In Ghana-UK Festival is on course to be the preferred reference-point for Ghana's biggest players in trade, culture, arts and tourism.
