Fashion for the blind
Modelling is going to take a different twist come Saturday, May 21, at the Akropong School for the blind as the students strut the runway to showcase designs made by young artistes.
Dubbed, “The Blind Catwalk”, the event is being organised by Kwabena Mensah of Black ID. Other designers who will be there to support include Chapter One classic, Chapters Couture, AF Couture and Bisk Clothing
The students will hit the runway with different designs from Kwabena Mensah, who says he has decided to do this as a way of giving back to the society.
In an interview with Showbiz, Kwabena Mensah, who has been designing for a decade said it had always been his desire to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged hence, the decision to put up the show.

According to him, he had wanted to organise a party for the students of the Akropong School for the blind as his birthday falls on May 24 but after discussing it with his team, they thought it would be appropriate to organise a fashion show for them.
Apart from the fashion segment, Kwabena said there would be fundraising at the event and the proceeds would be used to purchase musical instruments for the students.
An old student of Takoradi Polytechnic who majored in design, Kwabena Mensah who has designed clothes for artistes such as S P Sarpong, O.J and Nacee pleaded with corporate bodies to come on board to support a “worthy course”.
