Dela Botri and co at +233
The +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra has lunged into activities to mark Republic Day and the fun continues tonight, June 29 with a performance by master flutist, Dela Botri and his Hewale Sounds.
The group has been in the forefront of giving a new face to indigenous styles of music for a while and tonight’s bash will present their latest exploits in that area.
The band just returned from a trip to Egypt and tonight’s performance will also form part of its preparation for an upcoming tour of the People’s Republic of Korea.
Sunday, June 30 is for singer Kojo Essah and his Takashi band who describe their repertoire as “the African brew for universal consumption.”
With a delightful live sound that utilises a variety of percussion instruments as rhythm support for an accoustic guitar, saxophones, flutes and voices, Takashi always knows how to make audiences happy.
Gyedu Blay Ambolley and his Sekondi band are billed for Monday, July 1. They are a regular set at +233 and understand what it takes to entertain the often discerning crowd there.
