The La Pleasure Beach is expected to explode on Thursday December 29 when upcoming acts from the various ghettos in the country converge to compete in the Dancehall King and Queen contest.

The annual competition which seeks to crown the various upcoming dancehall artistes in the country is expected to attract a lot of followers of the genre to the La Pleasure Beach as they have fun in the process.

According to the organizers of the competition, Billy Jane, the motive of putting up the competition is to bring together upcoming acts in the genre to battle each other for supremacy.

She however appealed to dancehall greats in the country such as Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kaakie and Mzvee to encourage upcoming artistes from their various camps to participate in the contest.

In a chat with the Graphic Showbiz, Billy Jane said "We expect this year's competition to be fun by gathering all the various upcoming dancehall acts in the ghettos to challenge each other for the crown".

"This will enable them to rise in their music career as they learn from each other aside two of them being crowned the Dancehall King or Queen at the end of the contest," she added.
