Zapp Mallet, others for ‘Bass Clinic’

It has, since inception, served as a useful platform for instrumentalists to learn new  ideas and skills on the various instruments they play and this year’s edition of Bass Clinic will come off  on Sunday, June 8, at the Tesano Baptist Church in Accra.

In its fifth year, the Bass Clinic music workshop  has brought professional and aspiring musicians from all over Ghana and beyond together  for brainstorming and useful networking.

Its principal aim is to unearth and train talents and also entertain participants. 

An initiative of bass player, Opoku Agyemang Sanaa, of Bass Phactory, Bass Clinic was originally made for bassists alone. Its scope has, however, widened and now caters for instrumentalists of all sorts. 

“We started in 2009 and are happy to have seen it grow over the years to become one of the most educative and entertaining gathering of musicians from here and abroad,” says Sanaa.

Resource persons for this year’s edition include guitarist and producer, Zapp Mallet; gospel artiste, Pastor Helen Yawson, and the United Kingdom-based keyboardist and music director, Isaac Aryee. 

Apart from the package of aspiring musicians meeting resource persons for one-on-one sessions, there will also be presentations on a variety of topics including financial management for musicians and how to minister God’s word effectively through music. 

A planned jam session will feature performances from acts such as the PL Crew, Flames of Fire and a fascinating female bassist from Ghana as well as Flex Unyime Jackson and Glo Ambassador, Mallam T Bass, from Nigeria and other surprise guests.
