R2Bees outdoor Makoma today
Although they have not been very active in recent times, multiple-award winning music group, R2Bees, want to tell Ghanaians they have not slackened. Today, they release their first song this year, Makoma.
The song recorded and produced by sound engineer, Kaywa, tells a story of a young man who falls in love with a girl and provides her with everything only to realise that she is cheating on him.
The lover man is heart broken so badly that he does not want to indulge in a romantic relationship anymore.
According to Mugeez of R2Bees , the title of the song, Makoma which translate as ‘my heart’ in the Akan language, describes the heart ache the man is going through due to the bitter experience with the woman who betrays him.
Known for songs such as Odo, Killing Me Softly, Lobi, I dey Mad, Slow Down, Love, Walaayi and It’s Alright, Mugeez describes their latest work as master piece.
“We know Ghanaians loved our highlife song, Odo but I believe Makoma is great. We went all out with this new one and we know it’s already a hit”, he said.
Asked why they seem to have been ‘missing in action’ for some time now, Mugeez told Showbiz that as an artiste, “you need to lie low for a while and come out well after working on your craft.
“Yes, we admit we have not been very active lately but the wait is over as R2Bees brings Makoma, a masterpiece to blow the minds of Ghanaians,” Mugeez added.
Talking about their chances at this year’s Ghana Music Awards, the Tema-based group who have been nominated for Highlife Song of the Year and Best Group of the Year said they are not really expecting any award but they will be grateful if they win any.
