Nii Okai marks a decade in ministry
Come this Saturday, December 21 at the Oak Plaza Hotel on the Spintex Road in Accra, gospel singer Nii Okai and friends would be in action at a concert dubbed The Best Of The Decade to celebrate the goodness of God.
Hosted by contemporary gospel act, Danny Nettey, the concert is also aimed at celebrating Nii Okai’s successful 10 years of propagation of the word of God through music. It is also to thank all the fans and partners who have stood by his ministry through thin and thick.
Nii Okai, who hit the gospel scene a decade ago with his Mokobe album, told Showbiz last Tuesday that this Saturday will be exactly 10 years since he launched his debut album.
He said there was no better way to thank God for a successful ministry than to come together with his friends and loved ones to praise and appreciate God for His favour.
Assisted by the Virtuous Choir, an offshoot of the Harbour City Mass Choir of which he is a co-founder, Nii Okai will on the day perform 10 of his songs selected as favourites by the fans.
Apart from Nii Okai, Eugene Zutah, KODA, Naa Mercy and Nana Yaw will also perform.
The concert which is an invite-only affair, will also witness the official launch of the The Mokobe @ Saving Hearts Project. It seeks to raise funds to assist 10 needy heart patients below the age of 10 to undergo surgery.
The Best Of The Decade concert will be taken nationwide from January next year to enable Nii Okai and his crew raise funds to support the Saving Hearts Project.
After 10 years, Nii Okai who has four albums under his belt, still remains a notable figure on the contemporary gospel music scene here. He is known for songs like You Are Jesus, Gye Wayeyi, Wanana and Ayeyi Soronko.
