Kontihene out with Mununkum

Award-winning and eclectic rapper, Kontihene, has bounced back with a new album, Mununkum.

The new album which is his fifth was officially launched at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra last week. In attendance were some musicians, media and some friends and family who came to lend their support.

The 8-track album includes, In Love, which is already receiving airplay features highlife artiste Dada KD. The other songs on the album are Ohia ye ya which has Akwaboah on it and Sweet Candy which featured Kwaisey Pee, I go Die and Too Fine.

The Asesa hit maker describes his new album Mununkum which means dark clouds as one of his best works. He  remarked, “It is one of my most amazing works because I used the platform to preach about positivity in the face of the negative things that continue to threaten the positive things in society”. 

He expressed disappointment over the lyrical content of most songs churned out in recent times and urged fellow musicians to use their influence to project the good of the society through their songs.

“Most of the current songs do not have any meaningful message. This is not to mean that I am disrespecting anyone’s work. I always want to make songs that have good content and positive message that people can relate to irrespective of the generation one finds themselves and for the future” he said.

He is optimistic that this new album will provide music lovers with the needed inspiration. He is expected to release the video of his Etuo Mu Esum song which is on the Mununkum album in a few weeks.
