uniSecurities launches retirement product for artisans

UniSecurities (Ghana) Limited has launched a retirement planning account for artisans at Suame Magazine in Kumasi.

This forms part of the company’s commitment to help informal sector workers, in particular, to secure their future after their retirement from active service.

The launch of the product dubbed ‘Wo Daakye’ Retirement Planning Account, also coincided with the official opening of uniSecurities’ Kumasi office, located at the hub of the region’s budding manufacturing sector.

The Managing Director of uniSecurities, Dr Kwame Ampofo Kusi, observed that the issue of retirement often sent shivers down the spine of many people, particularly when those who were ill-prepared.

He however reckoned that while one was fit and going about one’s active work, it was necessary to think about the future and invest towards it.

He explained that given the lack of investment education, especially within the informal sector, uniSecurities deemed it important to introduce the product to help workers within that bracket to plan towards their future.

He said one unique feature of the new product was the opportunity for contributors to assess interest-free loans from part of their investment to grow their businesses while enjoying a life-insuring cover.

He, therefore, advised those in the informal sector to embrace the opportunity to cushion their future through daily, weekly or monthly contributions.

The Chairman of Ghana National Association of Garages, Mr Osei Bonsu, also called on artisans to see the ‘Wo daakye’ Retirement Planning Account as a lifetime opportunity to prepare for their future.

He expressed gratitude to management of uniSecurities for considering the wellbeing of artisans and coming out with such a product to cater for their needs.

He however entreated the company to open its doors at all times to members, particularly during their difficult times.
