Peter Emeka Ike emerges best in Tertiary Business Sense Challenge quiz

Peter Emeka Ike, a standout from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), emerged as the overall best student in the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge Quiz.      

In an interview with Graphic Business after the victory, Emeka expressed gratitude for the support that helped his team achieve success in the highly competitive academic contest.

"Our hard work has finally paid off, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us from the start," Ike said.

"The University of Ghana Business School provided tremendous support, especially through our coaches. They gave us all the resources we needed to reach this point. The journey was challenging, but we made it through successfully. We prepared for this moment every single day."

The University of Ghana Business School team, led by Emeka, outshone numerous other institutions in a tightly contested battle of business knowledge and strategy. Ike's performance throughout the competition earned him the prestigious title of the best competitor, but he humbly credited the victory to the collective effort of his team.

“I’m incredibly proud to have been named the overall best competitor in The Business Sense Challenge Quiz. This achievement is not mine alone—my colleagues played a crucial role, standing by me throughout the entire journey. Together, we put in the effort and dedication needed to succeed, and I’m grateful for their unwavering support."

He further emphasised the significance of the team's preparation and determination, 

"Our victory was not surprising to me because of the rigorous preparation we committed to. We worked tirelessly, day in and day out, honing our skills and deepening our knowledge. I had confidence in our ability to win, knowing that the hard work we put in would lead us to this moment.”

UGBS patron’s remarks

Prof. Elikplim Komla Abloyor, Patron of the UGBS team, also commended the students for their remarkable performance. In an interview, Prof. Abloyor highlighted the dedication and hard work that contributed to the school's triumph in its first-ever appearance in the finals.

“It’s been a long time coming, and we are incredibly proud to have won the competition in our first-ever appearance in the finals. Our boys have made the school proud with their victory. I’ve witnessed first-hand the hard work they put in to achieve this success, and I can confidently say they’ve done exceptionally well to reach this point," Prof. Abloyor said.

He further emphasised that the focus was not solely on winning the trophy but on the effort invested by the students.” 

“We emphasised to them that it wasn’t just about winning the trophy, but about the effort they put in. We believe that when the input is strong, the results will naturally follow. We are overjoyed and look forward to defending the title in the future."

Prof. Abloyor also outlined the team's plan for the next edition of the competition, signalling their intent to maintain their dominance. 

“We are getting to work right away to become champions again next year. We will review our strategies, analysing what we did well and what could be improved, so we can come back even stronger to retain the title. We are grateful to everyone who participated and supported us along the way."
