
New PMI Ghana President vows to drive transformative change
The new President of Project Management Institute (PMI), Ghana, Frank Owusu-Asamoah, has expressed readiness to foster strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to drive transformative change in the country's developmental project landscape.
That, he said, would be done through collaborative initiatives with the government, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders to address pressing national developmental project challenges, leveraging PMI Ghana's expertise and resources to promote best practices in project management.
He explained that with a growing membership of more than 1,600 professionals holding globally recognised certifications, PMI Ghana was well-positioned to drive transformative change in the country’s project landscape.
He reaffirmed PMI Ghana’s unwavering commitment to its vision of globally being recognised as the hub for project management excellence and value delivery.

“Our mission is to empower professionals, organizations, and governments to succeed in dynamic and complex environments.
“Together, we can elevate Ghana’s project performance to global standards while addressing the unique challenges of our local context,” Mr Owusu-Asamoah said at a ceremony to swear in new leadership of PMI Ghana at Peduase in the Eastern Region.
Commitment
The event, presided over by His Honour Jonathan Odartey, a Circuit Court Judge, was marked by the administration of the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy, underscoring the board’s commitment to ethical leadership, professionalism, and integrity.
The newly elected board comprises accomplished professionals from diverse sectors, collectively bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to advance PMI Ghana’s vision.
Members are Frank Owusu-Asamoah (President); Dr. Edwin Nii Obodai Provencal; Bridget Jumoke Yaa Lafenwa; Elorm Tsali Bansah; Cynthia Omaboe; Josephine Akoto-Bamfo; Augustine Harrington-Nunoo; and Abubakar Sulemana.
Management competencies
Mr Owusu-Asamoah underlined the institute’s role in enhancing project management competencies across the country by ensuring that projects were delivered efficiently, ethically, and with measurable value.
He said the institute remains steadfast in its mission to empower its members, provide innovative tools and resources, and establish strategic partnerships in Ghana’s development agenda.
With the new board at the helm, he said the PMI Ghana was poised to scale new heights, delivering unmatched value to individuals, organisations, and governments.
Strategic focus
The newly elected board outlined a strategic focus to align PMI Ghana’s activities with its vision and global best practices.
Key priorities include strengthening national impact, elevating public advocacy and awareness, expanding capacity building and inclusivity, aligning global standards with local needs, and upholding ethical leadership and governance.
PMI Ghana will actively engage the government and private sector to provide project advisory services for critical areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and technology.
The institute plans to establish a National Project Management Excellence Programme aimed at enhancing project success rates and delivering long-term value.
