Ghana-Re presents two cheques to govt
The Ghana Reinsurance Company has presented a cheque for GH¢5.6 million to be paid as dividend to the state.
Subsequently, it also presented GH¢ 21.84 million as payment of corporate taxes.
The company posted a 56-per cent increase in net profit before tax from GH¢ 36.60 million to GH¢ 57 million in 2013.
The Board Chairman, Mr Lionel Molbila, said the positive growth achieved by Ghana Reinsurance in a challenging year attested to its strength, adding that the company would focus on increasing its capital in the coming year to take advantage of reinsurance opportunities in both the local and international markets.
He said 58 per cent of the company's premium was generated locally while 42 per cent came from the international market.
