GEPA rewarded by Nigeria Trade Fair authorities

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has received an award from the Trade Fair authorities in Nigeria for putting up the best country representation at the Lagos International Trade Fair.

Ghana’s 65-member force of non-traditional exporters and the massive attraction of people to its stands were recognised ahead of over 10 countries that participated in the fair last November.

Consequently, an agro-processing company which exhibited at the fair, is preparing to fully launch its presence in Nigeria. This is due to the high patronage it received and the soaring interest from marketing entities to market and distribute the company’s products.     

“There were other formidable representations from other countries. But with huge publicity and the wide list of products on exhibition, we managed to attract a lot of traffic to our stands which was recognised by the Nigerian authorities,” the Deputy Director, Research and Information at GEPA, Mr Erasmus Ashun, said.

He was speaking after receiving the award in Lagos, Nigeria.

Mr Ashun said the Ghana brand had a lot of goodwill in the neighbouring country and  should capitalise on that and improve on its quality exports to that country.

“The Ghana brand sells so much in Nigeria and we need to take advantage of the good reception. But we must also not take them for granted, but send them quality products,” Mr Ashun emphasised.

In view of that, the deputy director said the team that was in Nigeria had suggested the creation of a Ghana Market in Nigeria to encourage exhibitors to continuously exhibit their wares there.
