Eastfield Farms expands into pineapple and mango farming to boost agribusiness

West Africa’s largest orange orchard, Eastfield Farms, is expanding its operations into pineapple and mango farming, processing, and exports to further strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Having established itself as a key player in the orange subsector, Eastfield Farms has been instrumental in forming the Orange Growers Association (OGA) and producing the widely known ANKAA Juice. The company now aims to achieve similar success with pineapple and mango, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The expansion will see the Natural Pineapple Growers Association (PINGA) producing ABROBE Juice and the Natural Mango Growers Association (MAGA) introducing AMANGO Juice for both local and international markets.

The decision to diversify stems from Eastfield Farms’ commitment to reducing fruit waste. The company has already turned orange waste into scientifically proven fat-reducing pig feed and now seeks to replicate this approach with pineapple and mango.

Eastfield Farms' best practices in the fruit value chain have earned the trust of international investors, making the once-declining subsector more attractive to industry stakeholders.

“We've gone into other fruits so that we help the processing plants like SONO and others to enable them to become all-year-round functional factories even when oranges are out of season,” said Papa Yaw Ntiforo, CEO of Eastfield Farms.

Beyond its commercial activities, Eastfield Farms, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, Eastfield Foundation, has contributed to education, healthcare, and community development in both public and private institutions.

With growing stakeholder interest in Eastfield Farms’ innovation-driven initiatives, the company has called on the government, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, to partner with them in creating sustainable jobs for unemployed graduates.

Mr. Ntiforo also congratulated the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, and his deputy, John Dumelo, on their appointments, expressing optimism for fruitful collaboration in the best interest of Ghana’s agribusiness sector.
