14th Ghana Banking Awards slated for August 29
The 14th Ghana Banking Awards has been slated for August 29, 2015, at the plush Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The theme selected for this year’s prestigious awards is “Identifying and Rewarding Excellence in the Banking Services Proposition,” and it is expected to celebrate the role of banks in the socio-economic development of the country.
The Chairman of the Ghana Banking Awards Planning Board, Nana Otuo Acheampong, announced this in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on July 5, when the top executives of CIG attended Akwasidae at the Manhyia Palace.
The occasion was also used to formally introduce Access Bank as the Best Bank of the Year for 2013, to the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He said all the 28 universal banks in the country had, as usual, shown maximum interest in this year’s awards by presenting all the documents required to kick-start events leading to the awards day.
Nana Otuo said corporate institutions were also responding positively to proposals to be sponsors of the awards because of the leverage they got from being part of the event.
The Executive Secretary of CIG, Ms Matilda Ohene, told the Graphic Business at Manhyia that the awards were aimed at accessing how customers felt about service delivery by industry players in the country.
She said the awards were based on both quantitative and qualitative data obtained from and about the banks.
Banks challenged
Otumfuo Osei-Tutu challenged corporate Ghana and the banking industry in particular to complement government’s efforts at bringing more development to the country.
He said the activities of corporate Ghana had far-reaching consequences which, if properly managed, could impact positively on government’s developmental agenda.

Other members from Corporate Initiative Ghana at Manhyia were Ms Matilda Ohene, Mr Asamoah Boahene, Director of Operations, Mr Charles Benoni Okine, Director of Programmes/Media, Mr Winfred Howusu, Head of Secretariat and Mr Robert Benin, CFA Consultant to the awards planning board.
